SGS19 Highlights!

Thank you to all our visitors, exhibitors, sponsors and other supporters that helped make #SGS19 a success.

With the brand new introduction of the SGS livestock area, tartan village and dog show, this year’s Show really was one to remember. We hope you all had a great day out and we already can’t wait for next year!

Livestock Area

The brand new NFU Country Fair and Livestock area at this year’s Show was a tremendous success. For the weekend, the Showground was home to lots of beautiful, prize winning cattle, sheep and pigs allowing the SGS19 visitors to not only watch the animals be judged by top class judges in the rings but also explore and learn what there is to know about farming today.

Dog Village

Also brand new to SGS19, Friends of South Glos Strays provided visitors with the opportunity to enter their furry friends in a number of classes including prettiest girl, handsomest boy and best rescue dog. The weekend also saw the pooches of SGS partaking in different activities like Hooper’s Agility and Scent workshops – both of which were run by professional dog trainers.

Tartan Village

Sunday 4th August saw a splash of Tartan hit the Showground as pipe bands and soloists arrived to take part in the first ever SGS Pipe Band Contest. The weekend concluded with a culmination of massed pipe bands in the Gregor Heating Main Arena – what a spectacle!

Gregor Heating Main Arena

Once again, the Gregor Heating Main Arena was jam packed with entertainment all weekend!

Flyin’ Ryan was back wowing the crowds throughout the weekend with his daring performances. With everything from stunts and jumps as high as 30ft in the air to pyrotechnics, he really came back with a bang.

Also returning to the Gregor Heating Main Arena was Wings of Wales! Lewis Phillips flew his beautiful birds around the Main Arena for all to see, swooping our guests off their feet.

SGS19 also saw Thomas Langton providing the visitors with his hilarious sheepdog and duck displays. The demonstrations portrayed the skill and commitment of a working sheepdog doing its daily work.

We can’t forget our brand new sponsor, John Lewis & Partner who took to the Gregor Heating Main Arena to deliver some amazing Fashion Style Talks for our visitors sharing all of the latest fashion tips and trends from their professional Personal Stylists.

Motorzone

Once again, this year’s Motorzone was full of cars from all generations and this year was no different! Including Pre-War Cars and Post-War Classic Cars, plus later Sports and Grand Touring cars and other cars of special interest, including Kit Cars, Specials, Replicas, American Cars, Custom and Modified cars. If that wasn’t enough,  S J Cook and Sons were back bringing the 4×4 driving course to the Showground, with the Dacia Duster on hand to give our visitors a first hand experience of the off roading abilities of their vehicles.

Festival of Food

The SGS19 Hotpoint Festival of Food was full of delicious treats! From tasty fudge to luscious cheeses, there was something to tickle everyones tastebuds. Our visitors were guaranteed to go home from the South Glos Show 2019 with a full stomach and some tasty treats.

Craft Marquee

The SGS19 Craft Marquee was filled with talent from South Glos and the surrounding area. From handmade jewellery and accessories to art and photography, there was plenty to satisfy those retail therapy needs.

Jessie May the 2019 South Glos Show Nominated Charity

This August, Jessie May returned to the Showground for the second year as the SGS nominated charity. Jessie May spent the weekend raising awareness of their children’s hospice at home charity, and shared stories of the amazing work their nurses are doing locally. Last year, Jessie May and South Glos Show raised an amazing £3,500 for the charity and hopefully will raise even more this year. Keep an eye out for this year’s total, coming soon!

BMX Arena with the Fusion Extreme Team

The very popular BMX Arena returned to SGS19 with some new features! Fusion Extreme wowed the crowd with lots of BMX stunts, free running and even some beat boxing sessions!

Music Festival

Once again, the SGS Kelly Brother Music Stage was jam packed with great local musicians! One of life’s real pleasures is the enjoyment of music and our visitors loved having a sing along and a dance across the weekend! We also loved having Oldland Brass and Dodington Parish Band performing on the SGS Bandstand!

The SGS team would like to say a huge Thank You to all of those that attended SGS19 and helped make it once again, a great success! We’re of course back again next year on the 1st and 2nd August at the South Glos Showground, so stay posted for all things SGS20!
